People
UT is an exceptional community of learners, scholars, leaders and trailblazers, and they drive our aspiration to become the world’s highest-impact public research university. Here’s how we’ll measure our success.
Attract outstanding, high-potential students, staff and faculty
Our goal is to serve more students and learners through affordable yet world-class education and honors programs. To do this, we must recruit and retain exceptional staff and faculty and be a great place to work for them.

Engage Longhorns for life, personally and professionally
Our commitment to our Longhorn community will last a lifetime. We will increase alumni engagement of all types, including direct engagement and support of UT programs and students, and attract more annual giving supporters than any public university in the nation.
Create a distinctive UT culture
What does it mean to be a Longhorn? We get to define UT’s cultural aspiration and embed this across our community. This includes strengthening access and belonging with efforts like our Hispanic Serving Institution achievement to broaden impact.

Making the Employee Experience a Core Priority
Recruiting, retaining and developing our staff is essential to achieving the impact we seek through the strategic plan. After a national search, the University hired its inaugural Vice President of People and Talent in summer 2023, Roger Cude. He comes to UT with decades of successful industry leadership experience and will lead our new campus-wide talent strategy and overall staff experience.
